Tonight, India Rules American Entertainment

At the 81st annual Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences Awards, Slumdog Millionaire has just taken the coveted "Best Picture" award. Slumdog also took away 7 other awards, quite a feat considering it had no nominations in the Best/Supporting Actor/Actress categories. (out of ten nominations, Slumdog Millionaire lost only "Sound Editing" and had two nominations for "Best Original Song," and of course, could only win one.

We've been rooting for Slumdog like the people of India root for the character Jamal in the film's final scenes. Not only because this is a fantastic movie, but because attention directed at Slumdog Millionaire is attention directed at India. The dirt, violence, crime, noise, and pain are not exaggerated. This makes Slumdog Millionaire a fantastic way to bring awareness of India's need for Christ to your friends and congregation. If you can, arrange an outing to see it soon.

by the way, we're going to be launching the new website for the 2009 trip within the next week, so watch this space for updates.
