The LHM-CNH District leadership believes that the renovation of the studio and purchase of “the guts” of the studio equipment will allow more ministry to be done than renovating the building. In consultation with Governor Lou Marting and LCMS CNH District president Dr. Robert Newton, we have further taken on as our fundraising goal the remaining studio equipment costs of about $6,500 and the building renovation costs of $9,000.
This results in an increase of $21,000 in our total fundraising goal, to $83,000. We know our team will not be able to accomplish all the work, nor will we attempt to. But I have no doubt a team will be sent back in 2009, and those project costs will have been raised for them. This gives us a God-sized goal that can only be reached with God’s help and intervention.
This number was reached by the following assumptions with 14 team members on this trip.
| Airfare (14 X $1975) | $27,650 |
| Room & board (14 X $1025) | $14,350 |
| Additional transportation costs | $1,978 |
| Visas (14 X $73) | $1,022 |
| Sub Total | $45,000 |
| Studio renovation cost | $7,000 |
| Studio equipment | $19,000 |
| Building renovation cost | $9,000 |
| Contingency | $3,000 |
| Total Fundraising Goal | $83,000 |
This change in fundraising goals does not change the minimum $62,000 requirement for the team to go to India in June; it simply reflects the amount of funds necessary to cover all the needs of the Christian Media Centre.
We can do this.
